Violence by state actors

‘Violence by state actors’ refers to act or attempted act, which causes or may cause any person physical, sexual, psychological, verbal, emotional or economic harm, in times of peace or in conflict situations as perpetrated by groups of persons structured or organised institutions and agencies.

These include wrongful arrest and detention, assault and use of force without lawful authority; unlawful entry into the premises and demolition of property without due process.

Imprisonment for 4 years or less depending on the cirmcumstances of each case; or a fine of less than ₦1,000,000 or both imprisonment and a fine.
