EXPLANATION
SANCTIONS A JUDGE MAY ORDER

Depriving a person from his or her liberty

This provision of the law ensures that no one is kept prisoner by any other one person, unless that person is executing a court order.

People who attempt to commit such act of violence; or incite; aid; abet; counsel; receive or assist another person in committing such act are also punished.
Imprisonment for 2 years or less depending on the cirmcumstances of each case; or a fine of less than ₦500,000 or both imprisonment and a fine.
