SANCTIONS A JUDGE MAY ORDER

Damage to property with intent to cause distress

This provision of the law serves to protect people from any form of distress, whether mental, physical, social or economic, as a result of that person’s property being destroyed or damaged by another person. This also concerns property in which the victim has a vested interest.

People who attempt to commit such act of violence; or incite; aid; abet; counsel; receive or assist another person in committing such act are also punished.

 

Imprisonment for 2 years or less depending on the cirmcumstances of each case; or a fine of less than ₦300,000 or both imprisonment and a fine.
